ABOUT BOB TALES

Hi, I'm Cathy...

I know from experience that it can be overwhelming deciding on a class or group to take your baby or toddler because there are so many out there to choose from. So let me help you by telling you more about Bob Tales.

It all started when I had my first child. Like a lot of new parents I felt a bit lost and I wanted to feel part of something. So I rounded up a few mums in West Didsbury for coffee (and lots of cake) and acted out some stories.

It was just a bit of fun at first. When more mums wanted to come along I gradually started bringing music and puppets and props. I named one of the puppets, Bob. I can't even remember why! But he became the mascot. Before I knew it, Bob Tales was born, and I had my own small business.

That was ten years ago. I now have two primary school age children and I feel as passionate as I did back then, about bringing mums (and dads, grandparents, childminders) together.

My background is in drama and I've worked as an early years practitioner. But ultimately what is at the heart of Bob Tales, is imagination. I make a lot of my own props out of recycled materials and anything else I can find. I love the idea of inspiring other parents to do the same at home. I really believe that sensory play doesn't have to cost the earth.
